Vela Transit is a worldwide mobility data product. We aggregate, validate, and archive GTFS and GTFS-RT feeds from transit agencies, AIS vessel tracking data from ferry operators, and ADS-B flight tracking data from commercial aviation - then serve it all through a developer API and bulk-export pipeline.

WE INGEST
Vela Transit fetches GTFS feeds daily, GTFS-RT feeds continuously, AIS vessel data in real-time, and ADS-B flight data in real-time. Every change is captured and timestamped.

WE VALIDATE AND ARCHIVE
Transit feeds are run through the Canonical GTFS Validator. AIS data is filtered for passenger vessels and matched against known ferry routes. ADS-B data is matched to published flight schedules via callsign. Issues are flagged. Every feed version, every RT message, every vessel track, every flight - stored on the Vela Context Hub.

DO I GET EVERY AGENCY IN THE WORLD?
Most. Coverage is strongest in Europe, North America, and Australia/NZ. We're actively expanding in Latin America, Asia-Pacific, and Africa. If you need a specific agency that isn't yet covered, tell us - we onboard new feeds continuously.
DOES THE API INCLUDE FERRY AND VESSEL DATA?
Yes. AIS-based vessel tracking data for passenger ferries and water transit is available through the same API. Query by vessel MMSI, route, port, or time range. Historical vessel tracks are archived with the same retention as GTFS-RT data.
CAN I LOOK UP WHETHER A SPECIFIC FLIGHT WAS DELAYED?
Yes. Query by flight number and date. Returns scheduled vs actual departure and arrival times, delay in minutes, and cancellation status. Historical data available for all EU airports. Professional and Enterprise tiers include commercial use rights for claims processing and insurance verification.
DO YOU HAVE AVIATION DATA FOR EU261 COMPENSATION CLAIMS?
Yes. Historical flight delay data for all EU airports, queryable by flight number and date. Professional tier (500K calls/month) covers most small-to-mid claim processors. Enterprise tier covers high-volume operations like AirHelp-scale processing.
WHAT MARITIME AREAS DO YOU COVER?
We currently cover the Mediterranean (Greece, Croatia, Italy), North Sea and Wadden (Netherlands), and the Adriatic. Nordic, UK, and Turkish waters are in progress. If you need a specific maritime region, contact us - we can typically begin coverage within two weeks.
WHICH AIRPORTS AND AIRLINES ARE COVERED?
All airports with scheduled commercial service in Europe, and most airports worldwide. ADS-B coverage is global. All airlines serving covered airports are included - we track flights, not airlines, so new routes and carriers are covered automatically.
CAN I GET HISTORICAL DATA GOING BACK FURTHER THAN MY SUBSCRIPTION PERIOD?
Yes. Full historical archives are available on Professional and Enterprise tiers. Researcher tier gets read-access to historical archives but not bulk export.
WHAT HAPPENS TO MY DATA IF I CANCEL?
Nothing. Vela Transit aggregates public data. You weren't supplying it - you were querying it. Cancel any time.
