We build on the ETSI NGSI-LD standard and publish our tools as open source, so the exit is not a promise. You verify each part of this page yourself, starting with the repositories below.

WHAT YOU OWN

Every Vela contract includes the export clause and an IP annex listing who owns each deliverable.


YOU HOLD:


  • Every entity, exportable as NGSI-LD (JSON-LD)
  • Your full history, exportable as Parquet or CSV
  • Your context files and data models (Smart Data Models, public by definition)
  • Your open-data catalogue (DCAT-AP)
  • An NGSI-LD context broker of your choice: Scorpio, Orion, Orion-LD, or Stellio, all open-source projects anyone installs
  • Everything we built specifically for you: scripts, flows, dashboards, and applications, each marked as yours in the IP annex

The export clause works on any day, not only at termination. Test the export in month one. We encourage this.

SCOPE

This page describes the Vela Context Data Hub platform. Vela Cloud Services (Vela Pulse, Vela Tide, Vela Transit, Vela Care, and others) are subscriptions: every report and data export you pull from them during the term is yours to keep, the services themselves stay in the cloud.

OPEN-SOURCE EDITIONS

Vela tools ship in two editions. The FOSS edition carries the core function under EUPL 1.2, free forever. The Pro edition adds clustering, SSO, audit trails, multi-tenancy, and premium connectors. Each repository README carries the exact feature matrix. A released FOSS feature never moves to Pro. Vela Tools.

Your team handles the setup with the public documentation. Many teams do.

WE DO THE MOVE FOR YOU (OPTIONAL)

If you would rather not carry the boxes yourself, we offer the migration as a fixed-scope service: server build on your infrastructure, broker and data migration verified against export checksums, FOSS edition installation, a handover runbook, and optional training for your team.


Fixed scope, fixed quote, available on request at any point, including before you sign anything. Entirely optional. The do-it-yourself path above costs nothing.

FOR PROCUREMENT

REVERSIBILITY, ON THE RECORD

EU public-sector frameworks require exit and reversibility clauses. GIBIT (NL) and EVB-IT (DE) both score reversibility in evaluation. This page is our standing answer, and every claim on this page appears in the contract, including the IP annex with per-deliverable ownership.
