"How do we know the data is right?"
Reception is independent of the operators - they cannot edit it, and neither can we after the fact. The methodology is published, raw tracks are retained, and uncertain measurements are flagged, not hidden. Operators can annotate the record with context - accountability with a right of reply.
"Does my country / my operator need to do anything?"
Usually nothing. GTFS-RT feeds plug in on day one; ferries and flights are tracked from public broadcasts with no onboard hardware and no cooperation required. A new region takes about two weeks.
